Alpha Project - Bridge Tent Program

Alpha Project operates a 325-bed Temporary Bridge Shelter Program for single adults located in downtown San Diego at the corner of 16th Street and Newton Avenue. The object of the Program is to offer a safe place for adult single men and women experiencing homelessness to receive bridge housing, emergency shelter, and appropriate services needed while preparing for permanent housing placements using the Housing First model.

  • Referral needed? No, you can just call.
  • Checking for bed space? Call either between 7am - 8am or 8:30pm - 9:00am to see if there are any open bed spaces once a referral has been submitted on your behalf. If anyone does not show up then they will take people in the order they lined up or arrived to claim a bed space.
  • Length of stay? No longer than 180 days
  • Important information: Large open space with cots and bunk beds, showers, bathrooms, dinners provided. Separate male and female spaces for sleeping.
